Jason Short founded Short and Sons to help save self-employed London Taxi drivers time and money on accounting costs.

 

In the summer of 2017 Short and Sons was born, and we took on our first clients in Christmas 2017. As of summer 2025, we now serve over 700 small businesses and landlords across the south of England. We aim to make our clients' interaction with HRMC as frictionless and stress-free as possible, thereby exceeding client expectations while keeping accounting costs fair. Our team currently consists of Jason Short, Lewis Chapman , Roger Spice, Terry Obika, and Caroline Johnson.

 

Jason founded Short and Sons and has delivered 1000s of returns to HMRC over the last six-plus years. He went to Isleworth and Syon School, then studied business and finance at West Thames College. Later in his career, he completed Accounting exams with AAT and is certified with FreeAgent, Xero and QuickBooks to supply their software to clients. Jason now looks after client onboarding, invoicing, advertising, and office workflow management.

 

Lewis Chapman was our first employee, joining us in 2022. He is an Accounting graduate from Brunel University and has helped streamline the business into what it is today. His role now is our self-assessment guru. He continues the Short and Sons mission of saving clients time and money whilst exceeding expectations. Since joining SAS in September 2022, he has gained experience by assisting with the filing of thousands of self-assessments and resolving tax issues. He now holds practice certificates with FreeAgent, QuickBooks and Xero.

 

Roger Spice boasts 45 years of accounting experience and has transitioned from paper-based accounting to computer-based accounting to cloud-based accounting. He is proficient in using online accounting software, including Sage, FreeAgent, QuickBooks, Xero, and Hubdoc. Rogers' experience and technical skills make him our in-house bookkeeping expert, and he is a valuable member of the Short and Sons team.

Terry Obika joined us in March 2025 and has taken on our role of in-house Xero guru and end-of-year Ltd Company accounts. Terry is our fourth team member and holds an AAT membership, as well as having 15 years of experience in the accounting industry, working for several different accounting firms across London.

Caroline was recruited in July 2025 to take over the payroll and QuickBooks bookkeeping and has settled in fast. She has 20 years of bookkeeping and accounting experience, and her positive attitude and calm manner make her a valuable addition to the team.
